Why I Became a Professional Home Organiser & Declutterer

I grew up in a very tidy home and had a Mum who spent her life caring for and helping others. Having lost her very suddenly in 2018 I was tasked with sorting and clearing out her home and her belongings. Thankfully she had no clutter to speak of (other than countless balls of wool!) and all her affairs were in order, but it was a real eye opener as to how I needed to get rid of some 'stuff' that I no longer needed and to get my life admin in order.

Losing my husband two years ago meant having to sort through the belongings of a loved one yet again and it was at this point I made the decision to put my career in health & safety on hold and take some time out to reflect on what was important in my life.

It has always been in my nature to be kind and help people, and the fact I love being organised and tidy just made sense to follow a new path. I decided to do a Business Diploma in Professional Decluttering and Organising early last year and once I'd completed that  I launched @letstalktidy .

My business focuses on:

  • decluttering with purpose

  • sorting with compassion, and

  • helping clients decide with confidence what they want to keep, donate or discard.

I've learnt a lot during my time as a PO (Professional Organiser) over the last year and have faced some really challenging situations but it has made me even more passionate about wanting to help those who really want or need to turn their cluttered homes into a calmer space.

My personal experience of losing loved ones has driven me to want to specialise in legacy organising and bereavement decluttering as I know just how tough and emotional it can be sorting through loved ones' belongings, and I can offer empathy and understanding.

If you or someone you know needs my help, please get in touch to arrange a free telephone consultation or drop me a message via the Contact page.
